The West Virginia Division of Forestry provides logging related trainings, as well as licensing and certification for operating your logging business.

Loggers in West Virginia must be certified according to state law. Certified loggers are responsible for safely and responsibly harvesting lumber without causing damage to water supplies or forest vitality. Logger training and workshops for topics such as Chainsaw Trainings and BMP Trainings are available through the West Virginia Division of Forestry. Licensing and Certification
West Virginia State Law requires the holder of a Timber Operator License to be in compliance with other licenses or regulations specified by the State of West Virginia. Additionally, loggers in West Virginia must be certified.
